Hi, my name is Alira and I have Alira's Family Day Care based in Proserpine. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and have worked in the childcare industry for over ten years across various centres in the Whitsundays and Weipa prior to opening my family day care business.

My partner and I have a little boy named Lenny, who loves that I work from home — he gets to have friends over to play while learning alongside them.

I strongly believe in play-based learning, providing a supportive environment where children can ask questions, solve problems, socialise with others and develop emotional skills. Play encourages self-confidence, critical thinking and helps children make sense of the world around them.

I have a dedicated day care space in my home and a large backyard featuring a sandpit, mud kitchen, fort, gardens and more. We also enjoy regular excursions to enrich learning, including visits to the local library for story time, the water park during warmer months, special events at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre such as movies or live shows and school playgroups to support social skills, community connection and school readiness.
