My name is Desley and my family day care service is located in Cannonvale. I live with my husband Tony and we have two beautiful adult daughters, Emily and Marianne who now have families of their own.

I commenced Family Day Care in 1998, in order to be able to work at home with my youngest child Emily. I did take two years off to trial other avenues but found that my passion is working with children. Over the years I have made great friendships with families.

I love the spontaneity and resilience of children. Something as upsetting as kicking a toe or wanting a toy that someone else has is forgotten in a matter of minutes.

I feel the small groups of children that family day care offers  is an advantage for families as it offers children more opportunity for one on one quality time and  it is beneficial for children when developing their  speech and toileting skills. Younger children learn so much quicker when watching older children.

Vacancies for 2020:

Perhaps you have not been working while you care for your own children? Or you could be looking for a change of direction?

If you enjoy the company of children and want to make a difference in their lives by providing quality care and learning experiences from your own home, then family day care may be the right career choice for you.

Operating a Family Day Care business gives you a unique opportunity to work from home as your own boss, choosing the hours you work, and potentially earning a very good income.

Our coordinators are here to advise you and help you through every step of the process, not just while you are setting up, but also when your business is up and running. An educator must hold an early childhood qualification such as a Certificate III in Children's Services or higher, or be willing to study. It is a requirement that all educators hold or are working towards obtaining a minimum of Certificate III in Children's Services.

We are looking to provide Family Day Care in all areas of the Whitsunday region and we want to talk to you.
