My name is Vicki and I am a married mum with four grown sons. My husband and I live at Wilson's Beach so any spare time is spent fishing, crabbing and enjoying the laid back lifestyle we are so fortunate to have. I began Family Day Care in May 1991 so as I could earn a living and still be at home to be a mum to our four young sons. Having an extended family on hand at all times when the boys were little was such a blessing, the house was always full of fun and laughter. The memories and the friendships forged during our time with Family Day Care will remain with us always.

Since that time, I have gone onto achieve my Certificate III in Children's Services as well as many years of hands on experience. I am constantly learning something new and looking at ways to improve my service and day care environment.

My program is extremely flexible and is adaptable to suit individual needs and requirements. Parental participation and input is not only welcomed but an integral part of my service. My program involves lots of outdoor activities, regular excursions to the beach, playgroups, theme days, growing vegetables and cooking activities. Together we go for walks to the beach. We explore, use our imaginations, play games, collect treasures and get to experience, hands on, a natural seaside environment. Low tide is a great chance for the children to spot the animal life, observe fishermen and boats, coming and going and just have fun running, climbing, being loud and experiencing freedom the way children should be able to. I have an all weather patio and fenced area at the front of the house overlooking the beach so the children always have full view to the beach and it's magic.

I can promise you high quality child care for your precious little one, provided in a fun, happy environment, with the emphasis on family. They will be encouraged to develop at their own level whilst having fun, gaining confidence and independence and all of which is provided in a gorgeous beach side setting.

I absolutely love my job, no two days are ever the same and the children will ALWAYS be the best part of my job. Please feel free to visit me on Facebook - Vicki's Place

Want a home-based career and to make a difference?

As part of our commitment to providing quality care for families, Whitsunday Shire Family Day Care is expanding our local Family Day Care scheme, a network of self-employed educators providing home-based quality child care that provides a familiar, safe and secure learning environment with a maximum of four children (0-5 years) in care.

To do this, we need more Family Day Care Educators.

Initial set up costs are low. Let Whitsunday Shire Family Day Care provide you with the tools to set up your new business:

  • Training
  • Placement of Children from our extensive Wait List
  • Administration
  • Professional child care advice from our highly trained Coordinators and Educational Leaders
  • Personal visits and telephone support
  • Networking, playgroups, shows to attend and lots more...

Perhaps you have not been working while you care for your own children? Or you could be looking for a change of direction?

If you enjoy the company of children and want to make a difference in their lives by providing quality care and learning experiences from your own home, then family day care may be the right career choice for you.

Operate your Family Day Care business and enjoy the unique opportunity to work from home as your own boss, choosing the hours you work, and potentially earning a very good income.

Our coordinators are here to advise you and help you through every step of the process, not just while you are setting up, but also when your business is up and running. An educator must hold an early childhood qualification such as a Certificate III in Children's Services or higher, or be willing to study. It is a requirement that all educators hold or are working towards obtaining a minimum of Certificate III in Children's Services.

We are looking to provide Family Day Care in all areas of the Whitsunday region and we would love to talk to you.
